New To Choir?
Jumping into a performing arts class like choir can be a very scary thing to do. Congratulations on taking the leap! As a member of the Wolverine Chorus, you will be exposed to new styles of music and song, learn how the vocal mechanism works, develop healthy singing techniques, learn to read music, and be part of a community of like-minded students with a passion for music and singing.
There are two distinct choirs at C.E. Williams Middle School that make up our Wolverine Chorus Program:
The Wolverine Chorus is the primary choir for all singers at C.E. Williams Middle School. All students are welcome: no prior experience or audition necessary! This choir, made up of both 7th and 8th graders, work on a continuing choral and vocal education, learning valuable musical and performance skills. Students rehearse during the school day in a scheduled class time, preparing choral repertoire for semester performances
Wolverine Competition Chorus
The Wolverine Competition Chorus is an advanced ensemble for 7th and 8th grade singers at C.E. Williams. This ensemble has more scheduled performances and trips than the other chorus. In addition, the class moves at a quicker pace and the repertoire studied is significantly more difficult. Due to the increased responsibility and difficulty involved, admittance into this choir is by audition only. Prior music/choir experience not required, but highly recommended. Auditions primarily take place at the end of the school year for most students, though other auditions may take place at the director's discretion.
